prophetic books
« on: June 05, 2007, 01:03:47 PM »
sometimes books of fiction have been  written that seem to have been books of prophecy when one reads them in later years.  i can think of 3 off hand...to those, i'll add "Children of Men".  if you read the book, rather than watching the move, you might see the connection to this story.

japan is the only country that is currently experiencing a population decline.  they do not encourage immigration and they are not having children.  substitute robots for dolls.....

i also wonder when we'll have to have laws to protect the robots.  no hitting, no verbal abuse, no unplugging without cause  :-).  a little "IRobot" anyone??
.....The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called the government. They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....
