first hive -just started keeping

bought a new hive from established keeper -- its doing fine -- i guess i have no equipment -- no super just a small new hive -- no protective suit or smoker -- so no way to check inside ---
  but i also have found (noticed ) 2 wild hives on property -one large in a stucko property wall  -and the other (small)under a toolshed-- never noticed them before -- amazing -- any way the keeper i got the hive from suggested a cone and new queen in a hive to transfer to -- there is a beewax shop which carries beekeeping supplies -- 45 min away -- should i mail order or get from the beeswax shop ??

A suit and smoker aren't necessities, but on the same note, go into the hive wearing whatever is going to make you comfortable and confident.
  Check out how much shipping is from say, an internet company.  Depending on your location, the beeswax shop might be the best bet.  If you ever have a question, problem and need immediate help, the beeswax shop might be your best bet.

You will need a hivetool and a smoker.  


I use to wear a beesuit, then got very comfortable with the bees, and went without the suit.   i took a few multiple stings in one visit, so now I wear a suit again.

I tried the cone method and a cage queen to lure bees, it failed.  the bees did not migrate over to the super, and I had a frame of brood and bees on it.
