Jerry Falwell has died according to AP.  regardless of your religious background  or political views, he was a force that gave voice to what had been a silent group.  He made it ok to talk about conservative views and to put moral beliefs into practice.  long ago, when i had a momentary laps of sense, i had considered attending liberty university for a law degree. the lapse of sense, btw, had to do with the law degree, not the school  smiley.   there was no other place at the time where a conservative could get an education in something other than ACLU law.

anyway....i thought it was a death worth noting.

.....The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....
