Oh I am going to sound old...but...I remember when ..UCD had a cool Bee Biology Department...I remember riding our bikes out there one night to visit a friend's boyfriend in the lab,  We watched him paint numbers on honey bees...very interesting..that was in...ummm...1972!

ucdavis used to have all kinds of great stuff.  later, when my brother was their IT guy, it seemed that they were not doing as much.  maybe there just aren't as many people interested in the rural studied kind of thing?

glad to hear that they are doing bees.  that, at least, ought to bring in some money for them.  CA is such a big produce producer.

.....The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....
