Yeah the topic of CCD came up at my beekeepers meeting on Thursday. No sooner said than up came the cell phone item. I said "hogwash." I think its a combintation of GMO's, pesticides (chemicals), and parasitic resistance.

Says a lot for the credibilty of the news media doesn't it.
Must have been a slow news day for them.
Was at the local motorcycle shop a couple of weeks ago getting filters, etc and the parts guy was telling his take on how cell phones were the cause of CCD. As he was talking about bees, he had my attention. I then asked him a few questions and come to find out, about all he knows about bees that are facts are that bees make honey, honey is sweet, bees can sting and the rest he heard on the TV.

Our local newspaper had a blurb about it and said something to the effect of how bees "make honey out of pollen". Good grief.

Y'know...'s funny, I had forgotten that I was ever on this site before...and I came in here to make the same smart remark I did in 2007..
I'm scattered, but consistent.
Thinking about the cell phone thing...CCD seems to be pretty much widespread and consistent, whereas cell usage is largely concentrated in population centers...kinda pokes a hole in that theory...
I'm thinking subtle climate shifts and a combination of atmosheric pollution and pesticides...some of that stuff doesn't break down and stays active for a long time...of course that's just my unlettered opinion...the bees probably know better..and they aren't talking...
