Beekeep On!
Nice surprise waiting for me when I got home

Came home from work tonight and noticed a swarm in an empty super that I had next to my hives.
Interesting thing is that the white hive next to it is vacant with drawn comb and some honey but they didn't move into it. Just as well, because I took the opportunity to dump them into a hive of new HSC.
They must be from a feral colony since there are no other beekeepers within miles.

Thank God i am not the only one to have the same thing to happen to me today. I got home and was looking in my hives when i happen to look in the peach tree and there it was a nice three lb. package of bees sitting there. So i took a good look at the traffic coming from all of my hives and they were working like gang busters. And then my mom came out side and told me she saw them when they came from down the hill in the pasture. So my next door neighbor came with his big tractor and helped me get them so now my yard has increased alittle more then i was counting on and i still have three more packages coming soon. I call to ask about them and they are running a week to ten days behind but if swarms keep coming here i will just tell him to cancel my order.

Pfff, one of my first hives I got from a package (3lb, I got in the beginning of march) swarmed at the end of may. Lets just say that queen liked to lay eggs... and lets also say that it was a warm and good season for gathering food...
