I need a queen now!
«

Does anyone know who has queens available right now for delivery? I just discovered my hive must have swarmed and looks to be quite queen less. I want to get a new queen in there before I get laying workers or simply replace the swarm queen if there is one in there. It seems everyone I call has ship dates like three weeks out. I prefer to order from California but it is not necessary.

There are a lot of queen sellers in Cal.
If you can find a copy of Bee Culture or American Bee Journal you will find plenty. Mine is in my car. I will have to look a bit later for names.
Sincerely,
Brendhan

Can you put a frame of brood in the swarm hive? They will then make their own queen.

I don't have any brood. My two other hives are brand new packages just installed on Saturday. Maybe I can try to get some brood from a local beekeeper though. Thanks for that idea.

I got an email from a place in North Carolina. It is far from California but if they can ship you might get it faster.....

ermmm, doesn't the hive swarm before the new queen emerges?
you should have a few queen cells inside the hive you know... or what was the case with that swarm? wouldn't it be called absconding if there's no queen cell inside the hive?

When I looked in the hive there was one possible queen cell in there. However not one single cell with brood either covered or not. I can wait and see what happens with this queen cell that is in there but I have had bad experiences with this situation. I would rather replace her if there is a she to replace.
