At our beeclub meeting on Monday night, we had a specialist from the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture come and give a presentation on pollination. Very interesting.
One member said that he had a hive that had some kind of poisoning a few years ago. He sent the bees in for testing to see what it was. There was a definitive chemical, can't recall which one he said it was though. But he said that they had to test for about 270 different chemicals to find the one. Now doesn't that curl the hair on the back of your head? Chemicals, yup, bad stuff. Have a beautiful and wonderful day, good health. Cindi

And all this time I thought they had one of these nifty Spectrum analysis machines that just told you what was there.

Maybe I will give it the most simple explanation...what do they call that?, Occams Razor or whatever...
anyway...here is my thought...we have been chemically poisoning the bees for their own good, to do away with pathogens, bugs, disease. Maybe its all those chemicals.
Kind of like chemotherapy...maybe bee's have had enough of being drugged...and they are starting to die off from the cure. Its the medicine thats killing them. Just a thought.

I think we have weak bees. Feeding and medicating encourages weak colonies to continue. If you look in some of the books that have been printed in the past few years you will find fall dwindle or spring dwindle disease. Not much info about it but it's there. More people are keeping bees and they comunicate with each other. In the old days beekeepers didn't have the internet to share info. What if ccd comes in cycles? What if this is the first time beekeepers have been able to share their news about their colony colapse all over the world?

Jerry, I do not know very much at all about "scientific" stuff. What I do know is that "stuff" must be tested for "stuff". When blood work is done, for example, they must do all different kinds of tests to ascertain each result they are seeking. Kind of a strange concept. Have a wonderful day, great day, good health.
