Hey all you Tennessee folks!
« on: April 15, 2007, 05:35:39 PM »
I'm planning a trip to Florida in May.  I'm coming from the Chicago area.  I playing around with Microsoft Streets and Trips and can't seem to find a way to drive through the Smoky Mountains short of adding 3-4 hours to my drive time to head East to Smoky Mountain National Park.  Is there a route any locals or truck drivers might be aware of that isn't quite so far East and allows me to avoid Atlanta as I head south?  My original route sends me through Nashville but since I'm not really sure of where the mountains are in relation to Nashville...

Really all we want to do is drive up in those mountains on our way and stop here and there to give our cameras a good work out!!

I know this is an off the wall question but we do have 26 Beemaster members in Tennessee so I thought it would be worth a shot...

Thanks in advance!

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Take 65 south then 64 east then 75 south When you get to knoxville hang a left and go east to exit 407 go right and follow the signs up to the mountains. I have made that trip 2 much.  it is a good 4 - 4.5 hr drive if you have to drive east from nashville.  As far as atlanta just bust it wide open unless they have a wreak or you hit it at rush hr It flows fine.
