i checked on one of the new hives today, while i was slapping supers on the old ones. Apparently they've forgiven me for giving them plastic frames and foundation to start with...THEY FINALLY STARTED DRAWING IT OUT!!! i wasn't suited up and i didn't have the smoker and the kids were in the car waiting impatiently for me to finish so i didn't pull any frames to look for the queen/eggs after i saw the drawn comb. But i am SO RELIEVED. i was beginning to think they were going to just spend the whole season hanging out in the med super of drawn comb and honey (that was intended just to feed them after installation). I will drive out to the other new hive tomorrow to see what they are doing. They have a supposed advantage in that i sprayed their plastic foundation with sugar water last week when i slapped a hive top feeder over them... i hadn't done that to the hive i looked at today.
hooray, hooray, hooray :-)
