They have been closing Interstates and other roads around HOUSTON TX. Because of ice.

The roads didn't close but plenty of crazy drivers out there today and yesterday during the snow storm. You would think that here in Cleveland, home of lake effect snow, that people could handle a snow storm...geez!

I watching this video with amazement and horror.  That must have been very terrifying for anyone that was caught in this icy road.  I have never had a car go out of control before, I have nothing to compare this video to, other than imagination.

My guess was that there was quite an incline to the road, hence the long long slipping of vehicles.  My heart goes out to those people involved.  I bet they got some salt on this particular stretch of road pretty quickly.

Thank you for taking us into a realm of vision where some of us haven't seen before.  Great day.  Cindi

on the video I was wondering how long it would take for someone to stand at the end of the street and stop traffic, guest they had a quota to fill first then stop traffic from hitting the ice .....

I thought someone else already posted that video somewhere.

Kirk-o and I were pointing out places that are getting ice storms that, hardly ever to never, have any winter weather.

i posted that over on one of the "child boards".  turns out that the guy driving was 79.  got away with just a lac on the head.  it was kind of funny for us.  my husband had just come back from ft worth, tx where the ice was just starting.  the next day, it was snowing here like crazy, but freezing rain in town where that video came from.

"Nay, it [this constitution of government] must perish, if there be not that vital spirit in the people, which alone can nourish, sustain, and direct all its movements. It is in vain, that statesmen shall form plans of government, in which the beauty and harmony of a republic shall be embodied in visible order, shall be built up on solid substructions, and adorned by every useful ornament, if the inhabitants suffer the silent power of time to dilapidate its walls, or crumble its massy supporters into dust; if the assaults from without are never resisted, and the rottenness and mining from within are never guarded against. Who can preserve the rights and liberties of the people, when they shall be abandoned by themselves? Who shall keep watch in the temple, when the watchmen sleep at their posts? Who shall call upon the people to redeem their possessions, and revive the republic, when their own hands have deliberately and corruptly surrendered them to the oppressor, and have built the prisons, or dug the graves of their own friends?
