I'm a listening to New Age Music - or as we call in the East here, The Anti-SKA  tongue

You know the music that's too slow for Muszak in the elevators and often has whale noices tossed in with Native America chanting for no particular reason. The best part, unitl Enya comes on, you never know when the songs change.

>with Native America chanting for no particular reason

I'm Native American and hang out with Native Americans all the time.  I've never heard any of them chant.  What does a Native American chant sound like?  I know a lot of Lakota songs.

I like most everything except Rap and Heavy Metal.  I love Blues, Folk, Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Mountain Music etc.  I really like the old acoustic blues like Leadbelly or Robert Johnson.  As far as Native American music I'm fond of the "Lone Man Singers".  I have several of Ricky Tail's albums.

Someone Shoot Me and Put Me out of my Misery....

The comment better put, with the addition of snippets of Native American Song placed in the New Age Song as if meant to conduce meditation from their enchanting tones, no more purposeful that the whale noises and sounds of waves crashing the beach are used.

For what's it's worth, I think we we all chant in song and celebration, watching football, parties, wakes, almost any human gathering entices some common song or act - I meant nothing Politically Incorrect, shame today everyone feels insulted or misunderstood about anything - I'm listening to Astrolight Stargarden Now... may I please do my morning meditation with insulting anyone - ugh.

P.S. That's as good as it gets. Smiley and Loreena McKennitt is great !!!

I wasn't offended, but I am puzzled that I hear that reference all the time about "Native American chants".  I've heard Gregorian chants and Buddhist chants, but never a Native American chant.  I can't even imagine what one would sound like...

Songs have a melody.  Chants don't.

Today on the way into work, a live version of Led Zep's Immigrant song, followed by some live Bob Marley. Grateful Dead as always. Jam bands generally.
Recently saw live "The Legendary Shack Shakers," and and "Flaming Lips" Amazingly loud and in your face. Best of all it was free and totally unexpected concert opportunity.Always like to be turned onto new music. In the evenings, jazzzzzzzzzzzzz.

my husband "chants" while he watches football.  he has a lovely one that strings all the best obscenities together into a semi-intelligible sentence.  it's impressive!   cool
