I'm Building a top bar hive like on Michael Bush's site should the entrance be holes or a slot?

My entrance is neither.  It's just the gap at the front of the first bar and a gap with the cover.  On the Kenya one the gap for the cover is made by the bar.  On the Tanzanian the gap for the cover is made by some shims or a 1/4" screen mold under the sides of the cover to make a gap.

Mine is a top entrance.
