Are roaches a problem? Would a healthy colony police them out, or do they get fellow insect rights?

I get roaches occasionally hiding between the inner cover and top cover or under the top cover overhangs. Never had any problems with them. I think they are just interested in a dark place. Have never had them down "in" the hive. Bees seem to keep them out.

Roaches on the inner cover, under the hive etc. are normal. Roaches in the hive are a symptom of a weak hive that can't care for the space it has.
