Flowers in VT

So, moved up here in August from down south, so still trying to figure the basics of the area out - I went to the USDA website for climate/plant zones...and it wasn't very helpful. What zone number are we in up here in Vermont (Burlington/Champlain Valley) ?

What plants in the garden are good for the bees this coming spring in this area? I know they'll find suitable plants within the 2 mile radius but I'd like to get a garden up this year too.

Hey and what is this purple flower I kept seeing everywhere in pastures this past summer/fall?

The purple flower is Loose Strife (sp)

I believe you are zone 4.  Elliott Colemans book has the chart in the back you might find it in the local library.

You will never grow enough forage for a hive of bees.  Grow what you like, and enjoy the production that you will get with the help of the bees.

yup,
 zone 4, up here at the tippy-top  its zone 3 to be safer. !
they realy go for alsike clover and milkweed
 alsike is tall and bushy, like 6 feet tall and is best planted in fresh
earth with no compatition.
 thats my veiw
