Varroa unter Kontrolle - Beenature-Project

They are researching the symbiosis between the scorpion and bee and varroa mite.

It drills in between segments of the varroa, sometimes it bites off a leg as it uses as a straw to suck and rinse out the body fluids of varroa, it takes 30-60 minutes to eat up a mite.

The scorpion is hard to breed and fragile and takes a year from egg to adult, they have been experimenting with how it lives in the hive in different woods and holes in the Styrofoam.

That said nothing definite yet, and research is ongoing.

Cool, perfect demise for the little beggars!
So the chicken or the egg question.
Would you have to learn how to keep scoropions first or bees?  grin

Can't ever say that bk'n ain't a learning experience!

doesn´t work, the scorpion is afraid of th bees, doesn´t climb to the combs and lives alone. So the number of varroa he eats is to low. Varroa treatment kills him. He needs floors with dirt to live and hide...
Ask the "old" beekeepers who knows this scorpion fo decades and they will answer the varroa will still be a problem.
