They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....

hjon,
Your little humorous test does raise a very interesting question.  I've wondered the same myself.  I like the polls and think they're interesting, I've posted a few myself and have wondered why such an overwhelming percentage of members will take the time to look but not participate.  huh

I understand is some instances it may not be applicable to them, or they may not have an opinion, but I really think it's much more than that?

It certainly is curious. This poll is currently running about a 10% participation rate. Quite poor by any standard.  Which is just plain weird to me. A person took the time to look but not vote, why?
Too silly? Possible, but other "serious" polls rarely do better.
Who knows....maybe at least someone got a :chuckle: out of it.

This reminds me of a talk i had with some friends some years ago like 2008 when discussing who we were going to vote for? Two of these guy,s said i am not going to vote! at all.Why not said I. Well because my choice does not stand a chance that,s why.Makes you wonder how many people feel that way.Not to imply that we the people had a very good choice. Wink

Oh Blue, we all realize you're "special" and much too important, at least in your own mind. to be bothered with the trivial polls posted on the forum.  My wonderment was more addressed towards the mere mortals that lerk on the forum, not the likes of you.  grin

Probably did.  'Not' voting would also qualify as a 'no' vote.  I agree though, that's what makes it funny.

So 547 views - 24 votes other than no = a whole lotta NON-participation.

That doesn't make it any less fun  Wink…….Actually, those numbers seem about right when compared with other posts, lots of views, a handful of comments, sometimes less depending on the subject matter and the poster.   We shouldn't take it too personal either way.
