I got one of my feeders from Brushy Mountain yesterday. I noticed it wasn't coated. Is this okay? It seems to me that putting sugar water in untreated/uncoated wood could lead to bacterial problems as the solution soaks into the wood. I've reviewed some of the previous posts and several have said they have coated the inside of their's with polyurethane. Is this the thing to do? Should I get two feeders for each hive so that I an use a clean one each time I go out to feed the bees?

I have several Brushy Mt feeders. I think they have some kind of flat varnish inside that isn't very noticable. Are the corners sealed? I've just used mine as the come and haven't had any problems.

Thanks Michael. The joints do have a sealant in them. I'll use them as they are.
