Moots; my version of the Affordable Health Care Act has the AHCA acronym.  Not sure which version you're looking at.  Maybe we're both being conned, heh?  Smiley

T BEEK,
Would be interested to know what you're reading and where you got your version. Via Google, I can't find a single reference referring to this law as the "Affordable Health Care Act" or by the "AHCA" acronym you quote. Nor can I find them referenced as a known Nickname or Acronym....

Wiki Link to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

And as for all your "assumptions" as to what did or didn't happen in some back room meeting...One fact remains, without the VOTE, it's NOT LAW....PERIOD.   And the fact remains, NO..NONE..ZERO REPUBLICANS voted for it.

My copy is from 2010.  Like I said, maybe (likely) we're both getting conned.  Perhaps our 'leaders' provide alternate versions just for disturbing the peace  laugh………..My point is that it isn't quite as one sided as 'we;ve been led to believe.  Deals were made behind our backs before the Bill was even presented to Congress….that's what we got.  If we can look through the fog of politics for a moment it might be seen for what it always was.  A gift to the Insurance Industry that provides nothing but profits from sick people.

 :embarrassed: OOooops, I must admit to being in error and humbly offer my apology.  After digging around for a couple days I finally found my copy of the ACA, that's right, Moots was correct…this time  laugh  anyhow.

While the words on the cover refer to it as the Affordable Health Care Act, the acronym is in fact as Moots says…the ACA…..However,  laugh :laugh:I don't see the words Obamacare anywhere……. laugh  I wonder why no one, including me, never noticed that before and corrected me.  Sorry for the slight distraction  embarassed.

Can we go back to the 'real reasons' we have this law now and why I for one, believe it was doomed from the get go, and why we didn't get what the majority expected, accessible, affordable healthcare for all?  'Nit-pickin' the smaller details gets us nowhere man... Wink

So you drag a young man from home by force or intimidation, "draft", send him into some godforsaken jungle to be damaged for life, then call his compensation a socialist handout? REALLY? I'm wondering about your 100% now. Was it physical, or otherwise?

Like many from our particular era (add aging to old injuries) I have no bitterness from my experiences, only toward the 'system' that continues to put its people in harms way for the profits of the few.  That's not meant to discredit how you feel about your experience, I would never do that to you or anyone.  I'm just letting you know there is an 'alternative' viewpoint, probably many….as many as 2.5 million in our case, no?.

Lets just say I figured out who the real enemies (of the people) were/are while serving in Vietnam on behalf of the Military, Congressional, Industrial Complex and made the conscious decision there and then that I would "NEVER AGAIN" just accept such a wrong without a fight.  As an old man my only regret is that I didn't do more.

But to answer; I have complex issues relating to both physical and mental injuries, but was still able to maintain employment for over 40 years after the 'event (s)'.  I do spend time in a wheelchair these days and/or must use a cane to get around.  I also spend time in regular 'rap' sessions with my brothers (God Bless them) and must complete regular 'check ins' with VA's mental health personal.  Not sure if that's what you're looking for  huh   What 'are' you looking for iddee?

I;m looking for 'affordable, accessible healthcare for everyone.  My THREE HOUR, ONE WAY drive to the MPLS VA is affordable but hardly accessible.

AMEN, BROTHER

""What 'are' you looking for iddee?""

Good question. More posts, maybe. Entertainment? Escape from boredom?  I certainly don't expect to change the world on a bee forum.  That's why I can laugh with you and others, or at you and others. I'm just passing my time in this place, "called earth", before I go to a better place.

Michelle Obama's Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the no-bid contract to

build the disastrous Obamacare website.

Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of '85, is senior vice president at Canadian company CGI Federal, which

earned the no-bid contract to build the so far costing $678 million Obamacare enrollment website atHealthcare.gov.

Townes-Whitley and his Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.

Toni Townes, Pricenton '85, is a onetime policy analyst with the General Accounting Office and previously served

in the Peace Corps in Gabon, West Africa.

George Schindler, the president of the CGI Federal's Canadian parent CGI Group, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.

________________________________________________

Soooooo...........

Let's see if we can connect the dots here ...

1.) No American companies considered for building Obamacare's website;

2.) CGI Federal was chosen by God knows which criteria and hired;

3.) CGI Federal was given a NO BID contract worth $93 million;

4.) A top executive at CGI Federal was a Princeton classmate of Michelle Obama;

5.) Previous company's experience was building a gun registry for the Canadian government;

6.) CGI Group was fired by Canadian Government for overruns that cost Canada $100 million;

4.) CGI has continued its practice of overruns as the Obamacare enrollment website has gone from $98 million to costing

       U.S. tax payers $678 million, and it's still going up.

Does this bother anybody else besides me?!?
