In the last two weeks I got two calls about trees cut for firewood that had bees in them. Neither person knew there were bees until after they cut the trees. I hauled both home and set them up, waiting for spring to get them into hives.  The first one looked  pretty good. The second one was sorta busted up . It  was in a horizontal limb about 18" in diameter and hit the ground pretty hard.

Good luck!  I've had some success with doing as you're doing.  Not much you can do now except wait for Spring.

Try to prop them up so they are as near the original orientation as possible, with the entrance facing as near the same compass direction as possible.

EDIT: Didn't notice how old the thread was. Don't move it now. They have rearranged everything by now.
