Been helping my hubby with bees for over a year.  This spring, March 18th I got my own hive, I've helped with a cut out and helped capture a swarm all without getting stung.  So just not enough experience I guess....

In the last 24 hours I've been stung on the eye lid and collapsed a comb trying to shake some nurse bees into my nuc split.

So now I've got some experience on my side how many mistakes do I have to make before the association sends me my bee card

Oh I'm sure I mess up more but they say you learn from mistakes so I figure getting popped in the eye was a way to start the learning process.

I've been beekeeping for 20 years and am still getting stung. First sting around the eye gives you at least a novice bee card. Next good sting gets it punched. After 10 punches you are certified  grin grin

You're not a Bee Keeper until the Bees initiate you. The first package I ever opened in my life I had a bee fly straight to my nose (5 seconds or less)! Welcome to Bee Keeping the little Bee told me!
