A Better Place

RIP Better Place.

Did you all see another electric automaker (Better Place) is being liquidated after burning through $850 million in investor cash?  http://news.cnet.com/8301-11386_3-57586236-76/electric-car-startup-better-place-liquidating-after-$850-million-investment/

Looks like Israel and the bankers are taking the hit on this one.  Or coarse the bankers will just pass their losses onto us.  Israel will probably just ask for more US aid and we’ll end up paying for their loss too. :(

Better Place sure had a good PR machine.  I can remember hearing numerous interviews with the company CEO about how their replaceable battery approach was the best way to overcome ALL the deficiencies of an electric vehicle (range, recharge time, battery cost).  They had (or said they had) a solution for all these with their quick change battery packs.  They sure did have a good sales pitch.

and this is different from our government directly subsidizing companies how?  there is one way.  see if you can find it.
.....The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....

Better Place sure had a good PR machine.

Toyota has a good Madison Avenue sales department but their electric car program has shorted out as well.

Looks like Better Place Motors is going to have some company when it takes that final ride in a long black gasoline powered limousine.
