is it so bad everywhere?  i gone to our local bi-mart several times and the shelves are bare.  they have a 2 box limit.  the kid told me that i'd have to be there when the door opened if i wanted to get anything.

got there when the door opened today and they had some odd stuff and 4 boxes of .9mm.  don't even need any of that but bought it anyway.  that the NATO round. if there were a shortage of something, i'd think it would be .9mm....

anyway....there was nothing else.  not .22 or even shotgun shells.....never mind the stuff i really wanted.

It's been several years since I bought any .22LR.  When someone told me how much a brick costs now I almost passed out.  INCREDIBLE!!!!!  shocked

We have a large sporting goods wholesaler in our town.  They say that they will get 2-3 pallets of ammo in and within 5 minutes could have it all sold if they had not put limits on the retailers.

.22 is the only one I haven't been able to find. Of course, we are paying the price. My 6.00 box of .32's are now 20.00.

The only thing Wally World had in stock on my last 3 visits was 30-06.

We have the same issue here in Montana. I have kids in other parts of the country and the panic buying and therefore shortage is nation wide. I have a friend in the gun shop business and he said it should all straighten out in another 30 days. The ammo suppliers are so far behind, but they should be caught up soon. It doesn't help that the "government" is in competetion with us, buying everything they can get ahold of.

I would pay the high price of 22 if I could find it.  I load 223, 243,  06,  300,  338, 44,  38/357, 9mm,  20ga and 12ga  and have a couple of lifetimes worth of components

So far Obama has helped the firearms and ammo industry tremendously and made more strides in arming US Citizens than anyone before in history.  He should be proud.

Powder is my problem.  I have caught days when primers were available.  I have kegs of shotgun powder and I have acquired molds and sizing dies and gas checks for rifle and pistol bullets.  Frankly, a deer dies about as well with a lead 180 grain coming out of an 06 or .308 at 1800 fps  or a 2500fps paper patched one.  It is those people who buy 9mm when they don't own one that exacerbates the problem!  But I fully repect the right to maintain a stock of valuables for barter and trade.  This buy everything on the shelf happened in 1991 or 94 when the Clintonistas made their foray against the second amendment.   Now with both of Bath House Barry's elections.  Time will tell.

The government is buying a crap load of "training" ammo for it's agencies,  Department of Homeland Security, Social Security agents, National Weather service and such.
I would buy it when you can find it.

They will deny or tone down anything that is anti-liberal. I think they are worse than the incorrect emails.

My dad got me started "rolling my own" reloading at age 13 with a mec 12 ga.   At age 16 I got my 1st pacific press and started loading centerfire rifle.  Except for steel shot waterfowl shells, 22 and 22 mag I have not bought anything  but casings, powder, bullets, shot and primers for 42 years.

I'm researching this. There are a lot of different presses and such. All new to me. I can see me doing this in the near future.

I have "heard" that some gov issued ammo. certain agencies rotate ammo every three or four months and dispose of the old ammo. I have heard of lots of 10-20,000 given away.

wish I was one of the lucky.

If two billion rounds to non military agencies like Social security, IRS and ya gotta love the TSA!  All hollowpoint.  Yeah that is the orders in, the only exageration is some has not been shipped to them.  It goes with several hundred armored cars, targets with old people, pregnant women and children on them who are carrying guns--to get people used to shooting at non traditional targets.  Two million dollars worth.  Remember Bath House Barry saying when he was running the first time we needed a civillian force just as large, well funded and armed as the military?  Time will tell.
