Geez I forgot to mention that I noticed the hose going from the compressor motor to the tank, when initially filling up the tank, gets wicked hot. I mean that little hose must be at least 100-120 degress F, maybe more! Hopefully that's normal?

And the air gun leaks where it screws onto the coupler. Is there some sort of tape to make a better seal with the threads, analogous to that white plumbing tape maybe?

The white plumbing tape is teflon tape and it's what you're looking for...just a couple of wraps around the threads before you screw it in and you're good to go. As for the hot tube, I've had them that do that and ones that do not. When in doubt ask the  folks where you bought it.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Any time you compress air you create heat.  Ask any Diesel engine mechanic if this is so.  If it is the tube running from the compressor to the air storage tank that is not a problem.  If you have an oil bath for the moving parts of the comprressor keep an eye ball on the oil level.

Also get into th habit of flushing or purging the water that accumulates in the hoses and compressor tank.  Doing this will help the motor, your compressor, the air tank, and your air tools last much longer.
