We've got feral deer in eastern Australia too, plenty up in the mountains of the Great Divide.

I wonder how difficult it would be for an American expatriot to get a class B firearm permit and license in Australia seeing that one must prove a need, (not a desire) to hunt or to control vermin, or to target shoot before getting the paper work from the government that allows one to purchase a firearm.  From my understanding if a rimfire .22 would serve the needs of the shooter for vermin control as well as a 7 X 67 mm bolt action Mauser rifle the class B license would be denied and or a Class A license offered instead.  I am much too old now to want to ride down deer on camel back just so I can shoot Bambi in the noggin with a .22.  Brian  grin
