Jep. If news tell that eberything is ok in Australia, who cares! - except I just saw from news that Great Barrier Reef is dying. It 50% dead now. - half of all heavy-truck drivers suffer from sleep apnoea. The rest have skin cancer. |

Oz is a big place.
The dry weather has been a big advantage for my bees.
Plenty of nectar, pollen & healthy bees

Yeah but you guys have that much rain your flooding! We were lucky and didn't flood. Just got enough rain to make the clover grow again and make all the gums flower. I should have got a photo my my bee yard today, the bees didn't know what flowers to go to first. They were like kids in a lolly shop bees in a flower shop?  |

What they don't tell you is that the reef is made of coral. Coral dies and then new coral grows. The media will try and make you believe that coral doesn't grow, it can only die. |

We have had pretty dry weather up until this week, when it rained non stop for 24 hours, got about 3 inches, it was great. I think the dry weather knocks the honey a bit, but its not really down a lot.
My biggest worry has been the extreme heat, we had over 46 degrees which is 115 F - when I was a kid, they sent you home from school when it got to 100. The bees stopped flying, except for water, they bearded outside heavily, and there were more deaths. They were all at the entrance fanning like helicopters. It was so hot that the dog just lay in his pool to cool off, for about an hour, and we saved our lives with Coopers Pale Ale(none for the dog, of course, he only likes Guinness).The bees seemed to recover alright, but we haven't opened them up to see if any damage, especially to brood.
