It is not about gays enjoying the same rights as straights it never was.  It is about the extreme left wing destroying Capitalist petite bourgeoisie society or bourgeois morality.

If everyone had to sign a marrage contract negotiated by two law firms setting out all the rights, benefits and responsibilities of each party before they walked down the isle, no gays would want to wed.  In fact I doubt that many 'straight' types would either.  It is just the religious nature of marrage that attracts the kind of attention from gays, that blood in the water attracts from sharks.

I agree with all you say in the first post Smiley Although I never imagined that we'd see gay marriage in my lifetime. When I was a teenager, living together before marriage was somewhat shameful.

Is aristocracy.

When I was a teenager you had to have a wedding license to show to the landlord or they wouldn't let you move in together...

It is just the religious nature of marrage that attracts the kind of attention from gays, that blood in the water attracts from sharks.

which is why civil unions with the same rights as marriage was not enough to satisfy the agenda.  this is about changing society, not about getting rights.

.....The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....
