It is not about gays enjoying the same rights as straights it never was.  It is about the extreme left wing destroying Capitalist petite bourgeoisie society or bourgeois morality. 

If everyone had to sign a marrage contract negotiated by two law firms setting out all the rights, benefits and responsibilities of each party before they walked down the isle, no gays would want to wed.  In fact I doubt that many 'straight' types would either.  It is just the religious nature of marrage that attracts the kind of attention from gays, that blood in the water attracts from sharks.

I agree with all you say in the first post Smiley Although I never imagined that we'd see gay marriage in my lifetime. When I was a teenager, living together before marriage was somewhat shameful.

When I was a teenager you had to have a wedding license to show to the landlord or they wouldn't let you move in together...

which is why civil unions with the same rights as marriage was not enough to satisfy the agenda.  this is about changing society, not about getting rights.
