From Dick Morris

Al Jazeera is coming to America -- courtesy of former Vice President Al Gore and entrepreneur Joel Hyatt. The Arab network, funded by Qatar, has just bought Current TV -- the low rated liberal cable station Gore and Hyatt founded -- for a reported $500 million.  The deal gives the anti-Israeli Arab network access to 40 million homes in the United States.

Beyond bringing anti-Israeli propaganda into these new American outlets, Al Jazeera has a long record as the chosen news outlet for Al Qaeda and other terrorist cells.  It was through them that Osama bin Laden would regularly post videos attacking the west and calling for renewed acts of terror.  Having this network available in the US might also afford terrorist groups a new method of communicating with one another.  At the very least, it will help whip up enthusiasm among Islamic viewers in America for jihadist terrorism.  Some fear that its message will actually cause an uptick in domestic terrorism.

I've actually watched the program here on public TV, WGVU a local college station.
I think that it's been here for a while.

Gore refused to sell it to Glen Beck, but has no problem selling it to Al Jazeera huh

I believe Cablevision? or Time Warner? has already announced they are dropping it.

tefer2, there has been a limited market for AJ in the US off and on.  it just never caught hold.  since most networks care deeply about the bottom line, no one was willing to buy programing that would not make money.

The shame of it is that Current TV was a pretty good station at one time, which has turned into repeats of drug makers and Oxycontin Express shows.

When they had viewer videos and theme related shows, it was entertaining.

So this shows the thinking of the man who could have been President - unreal.

Business wise it was the right thing to do with the raising of tax rates on capital gains. Morally, do I really need to say anything?
I am not surprised though, this is the man that keeps two mansions for himself and tells us we need to be more responsible with our carbon footprint.

Time Warner, I believe it is.

Radical programming will be toned down, issues affecting AMERICANS will be among things covered, it will be made to look like a legitimate channel, it will be overhauled to be more "attractive" than the old station.  Many Americans will be suckered in (as they're already being), the bait will be cast out and the mullahs will set the hooks.  If nothing else, it will be used to further divide our country.

Al Jezeera, Al Gore. One spouts unsubstantiated propaganda, the other, uh, does the same.

i like AJ online for debate.  they post horribly slanted stories, but the people are fun to play with.  surprisingly, the debates are not censored as they are on many US sites.  many of the liberal sites here have moderators that block conservative posters.

I have never even heard of “current TV” until I read this story.  Nobody watches the thing, this is not “news”.

Gore is a lot like so many of the “conservative” right wingers.  He lives in his own little fantasy land and makes up his own reality.  I would not be surprised if he’s a part time beek as well. laugh

How is selling out to a US ally like Qatar worse than Romney selling off businesses to COMMUNIST China?

Or Obama selling our fighter jets to the Muslim Brotherhood.

You are smoking the funny weed again if you are thinking Al Gore has any attachment to conservatism.

here is a quote from the NY Post

Always nice to see the light come on in a liberals eyes LOL

Yesterday morning, the still shell shocked staff at Current TV was called to an all hands staff meeting at its San Francisco headquarters, which was teleconferenced to their offices in LA and NYC, to meet their new bosses.

That would be two of Al Jazeera’s top guys: Ehab Al Shihabi, executive director of international operations, and Muftah AlSuwaidan, general manager of the London bureau.

Ominously missing was the creator of Current, the self proclaimed inventor of the Internet and savior of clean energy, Al Gore, although his partner, Joel Hyatt, stood proudly with the Al Jazeera honchos.

“Of course Al didn’t show up,” said one high placed Current staffer. “He has no credibility. [...]

“He’s supposed to be the face of clean energy and just sold [the channel] to very big oil, the emir of Qatar! Current never even took big oil advertising—and Al Gore, that bulls***ter sells to the emir?”

The displeasure with Gore among the staff was thick enough to cut with a scimitar.

“We all know now that Al Gore is nothing but a bulls***ter,” said the staffer bluntly.

We do stories on the tax code, and he sells the network before the tax code kicked in?

“Al was always lecturing us about green. He kept his word about green all right—as in cold, hard cash!”

speaking of liberals being educated

I saw where there was a bunch of liberals complaining on our local newspapers website about the new payroll taxes.

one with a screen name of "RomneyLies" was complaining that an extra 54$ is being confiscated from his check

his comment was "I thought it was only going to hit the rich people"

dumba**

Well you know al Gore bin Gore is hurting because of the President's war on jet fuel and private jets.  So al Gore bin Gore surrendered to big oil and is expected to pocket 100,000,000 skins for his 20% of Current TV.  Unfortunately Gore will only be out $15,000,000 in capital gains taxes, not the $40,000,000 he would be out if he was paying what his President calls his (Gore's) fair share.

Your words prove my Granny's view that,

"There are none so blind as those who do not wish to see."

By the way, I have not watched Fox TV or any of those other ultra liberal propaganda machines Blue is so concerned with,  in two years or longer.

It is so funny that our beeks don’t see the OBVIOUS propaganda machine that IS Fox News, but you fear that Qatar will turn some channel that nobody even watches into a propaganda machine.

Hello, you’re all watching propaganda 24-7 as it is!

And I’m the one having trouble seeing……   laugh laugh laugh laugh

I've been watching AJ for a few years, it has some decent content. The problem with all news reporting is with television the axiom 'seeing is believing' is sadly all too often true. A little bit of fact checking from viewers would vastly improve the quality of all news reporting.

When I really want the truth I go to NBC or MSNBC cause NBC's main man works in the White House and he should know the truth. Right??. And BTW they don't have to pay taxes.

you must watch a lot of fox news to know so much about it.  surely you would not form an opinion based on what others have told you?  it's ok to not like something.  we can't all like the same things, can we?
