logistics of a swarm
«

Can anyone clear this up for me?
When I install a package in the Spring I have to feed them until they get frames drawn. So how do swarms survive when they go find a new home that has no drawn comb? Seems like they'd starve before they got comb drawn and any food stored.
Thanks

A big swarm can bee very heavy beecause of the honey, 20kg is not unheard of.

.
2 kg swarm fills a Langstroth box and 40% out of its weight is honey.
A swarm has 3 days food with them.
