Thanks for the info gang:
The NEW PC is an HP Media Center PC m7250n - really nice to use, very fast duel core 820 Pentium D with 1gig RAM, 250gig HD, having fun recording and watching TV with it - DVD does LIGHTSCRIBE DVD and CD labels which are pretty cool and professional looking. It has FM radio tuner too.
The number of USBs and Firewires, audio and video jacks, etc., are pretty stunning too. I'm using my Dell 17" flat panel which is really bright and amazingly good in a sunny room and also my Dell's sound system with sub-whoofer.
I did great I think - I loaded a few really taxing graphical games last night and it handled it easily. The 128mg video card works fine, I know 256mg is a bit more dreamy, but I'm not doing THAT serious of multitasking video.
So, that is my new toy. The keyboard is really awesome - you can control everything there, video, drive burners, everything.
About backing up files, I have a USB connected 40gig portadrive about the size of a 8 track tape that should serve me well. I haven't moved my files from that drive into the new computer yet, but may choose NOT to and just have the drive hooked up to a back USB port so I don't have to see it.
Hope my new toy meets the minimal requirements of the membership
It sure meets mine
