From your pictures, looks like you sure didn't have very many bees in there. We all end up losing some in the beginning. It's all part of the learning process. Just plan on getting more in the spring. You already have a home built for them.  I have relatives close to you in Arden. |

If you had feral bees around or a stronger hive you could have had a robbing situation develop.
They can devastate a weak hive.
I had to install entrance reducers on some hives and feed with syrup using the baggie system.
All of mine have made it so far.
