I usually can get my hands on insane amounts of candy canes around the holidays.. crush em up and feed them to the bees? just wondering if anyone else has fed hard candy before?

I know a beek who basically does the same thing. He gets lots of the round peppermint hard candies, crushes them up and puts them in the hive. He claimed that it helped with tracheal mites.
