Who said it.

The Quote of the Decade:
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally.  Leadership means that, "the buck stops here."   Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.  America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.  Americans deserve better."
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me . . . Anything can happen, child. Anything can be"

*Shel Silverstein*

Wasn't it that senator who unequivocally voted against raising the limit that year, solely because his party said to? Back when reading from papers was fine to get something into the senate record and didn't require a teleprompter.

Yes, it was the then Senator.   Right before using the credit card from the Bank of China.

Heck, take a few dozen friends to the polls, along with your Great-Great-Great-Granddaddy.  The side currently in power is planning to.

Who said it???

OKEY DOOKEY!!!

I'll play that game.

Who said this?

"I wish I had known more firsthand about the concerns and problems of American businesspeople while I was a U.S. senator and later a presidential nominee. That knowledge would have made me a better legislator and a more worthy aspirant to the White House. ... I learned first of all that over the past 20 years America has become the most litigious society in the world. ... The second lesson I learned by owning the ********* Inn is that legislators and government regulators must more carefully consider the economic and management burdens we have been imposing on U.S. businesses. ... Many businesses, especially small independents such as the ********* Inn, simply can't pass such costs on to their customers and remain competitive or profitable."

I suspect that many of my Conservative as well as my Liberal beek friends will have a hippopotamus when they find out who uttered these words.

Go to this web sight to learn who this right wing reactionary radical really was.

You see after investing all of his life savings in the Stratford Inn, state fire, health, and safety regulations more in tune with a 10,000 room casino in Vegas, caused this right wing nut reactionary to loose everything he had worked for his whole life.
