Kurstaki Strain of BT for Wax Moth Control
«

Has anyone every used the Kurstaki strain of BT for wax moth control? I understand it is used in India and several Middle Eastern countries for this purpose. Apparently, Aizawai is the only type of BT that has been registered for wax moth control. Since it is no longer registered in the U.S. for wax moth control, and I only have paradichlorabenzine as a legal option, I was wanting to use the Kurstaki strain because I know it will not harm honeybees. The main question I'm asking is how effective has it been for you?

Kurstaki is not approved for use in the hive in the US either. So there goes your legal option with it also.

This has the aroma of urinal cakes(paradichlorabenzine) I would not put it any where near my bee equipment. The wax most likely will absorb the aroma and impose unwanted smell and taste into your honey.

Look for Certan or Xentari. It is a much better option.
