Our good friend's camp in Grand Isle was broken into and set on fire. The Perpetrator shot Schawee in the abdomen. His wife informed me that the bullet has been removed and he's in stable condition. I'll keep everyone informed of his progress.
Please pray for our good friend.
Thank you.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

"Nay, it [this constitution of government] must perish, if there be not that vital spirit in the people, which alone can nourish, sustain, and direct all its movements. It is in vain, that statesmen shall form plans of government, in which the beauty and harmony of a republic shall be embodied in visible order, shall be built up on solid substructions, and adorned by every useful ornament, if the inhabitants suffer the silent power of time to dilapidate its walls, or crumble its massy supporters into dust; if the assaults from without are never resisted, and the rottenness and mining from within are never guarded against. Who can preserve the rights and liberties of the people, when they shall be abandoned by themselves? Who shall keep watch in the temple, when the watchmen sleep at their posts? Who shall call upon the people to redeem their possessions, and revive the republic, when their own hands have deliberately and corruptly surrendered them to the oppressor, and have built the prisons, or dug the graves of their own friends?
– Justice Joseph Story, "Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States," Volume II, Chapter XIII: Mode of Passing Laws, Sections 900-901, pp. 364 (1833)

I just received this text from his wife: "I just got to see him in recovery, he is okay and talking a little but they made us leave the room so he can rest".
Thanks for your prayers folks!

Prayers and good thoughts are sent his way and some understanding and peace for his family. A little swamp justice would indeed be good enough, as ol' Charlie said.......... Just take them rascals out in the swamp Put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest Speedy recovery and hope them pretty nurses will at least bring you a big milk shake

Please keep us updated on his condition JP. Was his wife home at the time? And did they loose the house? Hate to hear of this going on.
