http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120813/AUTO01/208130392

this article is not completely accurate, but the part about how much the tax payer is losing comes from the government.  guess we can trust their numbers  shocked

could have just given those folks who supposedly would have lost their jobs (not) a million or so dollars each and we'd have been much better off.

since you brought up unions, this has been going on in my backyard.  while they were having this most important dispute about who unplugs trucks, the work was not done, or was shifted to other ports.  the union members who were not working while all this went on, were still paid their full salary.

forgot to add...i have done this work.  it ain't rocket science.  when we have trucks dropped for us at our kitchens, one of us monitors the trucks and can plug and unplug them when the need arises.  i can't even believe that there is a special designation for this non-job.  wonder what it pays??

Since the original issue price, Government Motors stock has lost 50% of its value.

Here is a sad but scary and true tale about what is coming down the pike for Longshoremen.

the pay scale for union electricans will likely be in the $30 per hour range, plus benifits.  with enough seniority in the $50-$60 dollar range.  How many extention cords can you plug in and moniter for that?
