I hope y'all LA folks come through this one alright...."hunker down" as they say. We dodged the bullet here but it's still been blustery and raining for two days now. I hope it clears for us tomorrow.
At least the predictions are for a bit weaker storm when it hits (cat 1 vs. cat 2).

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

My house has never flooded and after raising it we are three feet higher. The wind would be my main concern. My parents on the other hand have flooded three times. I'm always concerned for them but at least now they have no more carpet! Now its a waiting game.
Iddee, thanks for the offer my friend.

Be careful down there JP....tis' the season to hunker down. I noticed the first tendrils of the swirl come through this afternoon, it wasn't long before the clouds were rolling in. We've only had one shower...about 7pm this evening. Picture sometime around 2pm this afternoon...in my location we've had very little rain. It looked like down along the Gold Coast folks were getting drenched today...and now the only rain I see is out in the Atlantic out from Daytona and a little squall what looks like of the Gulf Coast from Ft Meyers. I figured there would be more rain...guess it's waiting for the warm-up tomorrow. Ed

Stay in touch along the way if possible

Thanks Annette. I think we'll be okay on this one. Starting to get quite windy with some light rain. Just ate some boiled shrimp, my second helping this evening. Sent a pic to Schawee. He said I was cold blooded, considering his second favorite food is boiled shrimp. ...JP

Where are all the hurricanes It’s almost August and we haven’t even had a hurricane yet. What gives? Weren’t we suppose to be in an era of “super hurricanes” as the Gulf warmed up? Your in MI! What does it matter??? ...DOUG KD4MOJ

Winds not too too bad, yet. The rain has settled in at about a medium level now. Lots more rain to come. Dogs barking at every little noise now, about to drive me crazy! ...JP

I hope you and your bees and fare well, JP. Storm was not much here as it went by. Schools closed, Clearwater Beach was closed, some beach erosion but all in all, not too bad. I always feel relieved when a storm misses us, but I feel bad for the folk where it does land. Nobody needs the damages, even if minor.
Good luck!

Thanks Joe, you better hunker down yourself brother.
Very windy now, with gusts up to 50 mph would be my guess with a good steady 25. Gets any worse and I believe we just may lose power. I sure hope we don't but it is really blowing out there now! The generator is ready to go just in case. Good luck to everyone who has to go through this.

JP, The last time I was on generator power, it blew my laptop. Be careful with your electronics if you do lose power.

Will not run the PC with the generator. I have two fridges and a small chest freezer and then a fan so we don't sweat to death. Winds are a steady 30mph with recorded gusts of 61. Any worse and I believe we'll likely lose power. Keeping my fingers crossed. The constant winds are nerve racking, got me nervous, doing a whole lot of snacking. My wife who's usually the nervous one is sewing. Go figure! ...JP

Good luck JP with the hurricane!
Make sure you turn the A/C down now so that the house will be cool if you do lose your electricity.
We went thru 3 of them in 2004.
