Bee Sting Removal Guide For School Districts

Made another informational graphic about the correct procedure for removing and treating a bee sting. We are going to present this to some school districts for them to use as a resource for treating a bee sting.

Have received some criticism already for including a picture of the credit card scrape since some believe it implies that a card is the only "flat surface" you can use to immediately    remove the stinger.

Would like to hear your opinions and feedback on the graphic.

Good looking poster.   But, I just normally scratch the sting.    It just feels good to scratch.     Then add a little smoke to the sting area.

We are using honey, baking soda or garlic to sooth.

The main thing is that you remove the stinger quickly with whatever means possible. I just use my fingernail and scrape. you may want to mention that Epi-pens are given by prescription only. These are only to be used in an extreme emergency. BTW, when you are prescribed by a medical doctor as being extremely allergic they prescribe two pens as you may need both pens to save your life. There has been much discussion on this site concerning Epi-pens.

I appreciate the feedback. The goal is to provide students and staff with the most the most accurate information so stressing points like the faster the stinger is removed is more important than the item used to remove the stinger. Also, disclosures like what JP stated above are key to a successful bee treatment guide.

It is a good graphic but i would be cautious mentioning anything about epi pens without some qualifications on what type of reaction would indicate their use. Maybe a bullet list differentiating between localized and systemic reactions. Be sure to stress with that list which syptoms require immediate medical attention.
