The queen...and mint-tasting honey
« on: June 14, 2012, 06:38:58 PM »
Guess who found the queen during a cut out? Yes. I did. I am elated.

The honey from the hive in which I found the queen tastes like MINT. Is that weird?

Great job Liz!

BTW, I removed a hive from our zoo this past Monday that had green honey. I was told the bees preferred the green syrup around the snowball stands! :-D

That's wonderful, JP...I used to scoop snowcones at Kings Island (a Cincinnati amusement park)...and, now that I think about it, bees were an "issue" around the syrup jugs. I still love snowcones!

Does anyone know the areas that Basswood will grow in. I would love to be able to plant it on my farm?

Thanks. Found out that it doesn't grow much further south than TN and WV. I did plant about 90 Korean Bee Trees this past winter but I have not seen even 1 start growing.
