Hey guys, I am trying to find out what these things are called. They are some type of air vents that was on a demo hive. I have been searching google unsuccessfully to find out where to buy them or what they are called. I think they really finish off a demo hive rather than stapled #8 cloth.   Do you know what they are called and or where I could buy them? Thanks for any help. James |

They kind of look like old soffit vents. They snap in plywood, don't think you can buy them any longer.

James , tefer2 has something there, they could also be the vent/plugs that was used to plug the holes drilled in the side of an existing house when blowing insulation into the walls. They really used to build houses with zero insulation. I haven't seen any around for some time, they use a different type now. You may find some at a mom & pop hardware place that has a box or so left over. You could also check with a company that does retro-fit blown-in insulation for some leftovers.

most blown in insulationuses a much larger diameter hole. I thought soffit vents too, but 1 inch is pretty small for that. maybe a siding/roofing supplier might know. Like ABC roofing supply.

I don’t have much if any experience with OHs. However what keeps the bees from building wild comb in the extra space to the inside the screen?

Ob. Hives usually have stapled #8 to the inside. I would suppose that overtime if this type of vent were the only one on the ob hive they would/could build wonky comb in there. These, I think, give it a better finished look.
I am only using a Demo hive and the bees aren't in there long enough to start building comb. I usually only have them in there for about 4-6 hrs.

Just seen these at Lowes yesterday. They were over in the roofing department with the soffit vents.
