First Honeybee of the season

Our first warm weekend here in Connecticut since March, saw my first honeybee this morning on a patch of violet colored flowers in my backyard. Love it when the milkweed blooms across the street, not only the honey bees but everything comes out for milkweed they love the stuff. Anyone ever have Milkweed honey?

I plan on getting my own bees, trying to aquire some knowledge first. More than half way through "Beekeeping for Dummies", learning stuff on here, I need a mentor...busy with my day job(Optical Tech) plus I am also apprenticing as a tattoo artist so my time, well I have no time lol. I love Entomology and also very interested in genetics, I can so see myself vearing off into bee-breeding,Queen-rearing. I am impressed what I have heard about the English buckfast but a beekeeper from Mass. told me it's better to use local bees. I am going to have to start looking for some on my hikes. Well gotta get ready and go to my day job...ugh! Today we are going to have summer tempatures here in Connecticut...so wanna play hookey!!!

Oh dear, Drone Dave...tattooing, entomology and bad eyesight is not a great mix...unless you don't want to see insects crawling on your skin.
