DO I need to file my 12 and 16 year old children taxes. Son made $1,000 and daughter made $200.00?

No check. They worked for their uncle and got a w2. I filed for my son last year and he did not have to pay nor did he get a return. I would not think a 12 year old would have to file making only 200.

If they got a w2 when withholdings we taken out. File the 1040ez for free and they should get a check back from the Treasury.

I think the cutoff is 1500.00. It was a few years ago. Anything less than that they don't have to file. If they had taxes taken out, they will get a check for the full amount back if they do file.

No state of federal tax withheeld. They only took out for ss and medicare
