Metal Queen Catcher

Are there any downsides to using the metal ones?  I see all the actors on here using plastic ones.  My local supplier only had the metal kind and thats what I ended up getting.  Is there a reason you all use the plastic over metal?

Depending on what you use it for, it has the same issues as the plastic.

If you are just using it for temporary containment and you plan to release her from it, than I guess your OK.   If you plan to put her into a queen cage, then you have the issue of transferring from it to a cage without her getting away.  If you plan to mark her, transferring issue is the same.

Once she is in it,  I guess visibility will be better with the clear plastic.   I only have a metal one,  but I would notice no difference between the two since they just lay unused in my box of unused stuff.

I much prefer to use my fingers, much less chance on her "getting" away.

I’ve got the plastic.  They don’t hold up very well to a bee keeper accidently sitting on them.
