Perhaps Shane and I could help yous lot with some eddication about Queensland. 1. It's uncomfortably swelteringly hot 2. We like it hot and insulation reverses the oppressive heat too much 3. haha, I haven't heard that one for a while. Hawk the house is probably 15 years old, but that section i was working on was just the garage wall. However its not common here to use insulation in the walls.

Difference in the cultures... here it can be hot enough to melt the shingles off the roof and half the men would refuse to wear shorts. Which can be a bad thing or a good thing, depending on who you're looking at.  Great job, by the way. JC |

Would you believe corks are hard to come by now? I have searched all over town and even the pubs say most wine bottles don't use corks anymore. How can I possibly construct a decent hat if I can't find corks?? Mind you, when I went into one pub they told me not to leave till I picked up my bottle caps and handed me 3 full bags of them. They know I'm a lagerphone maker. I am not seeking corks for your typical akubra. The music group I attend is having a crazy hat competition. So far it involves a colander, buffalo horns, a wind vane, ducklings, sheep bells, a horn and a windup music box gadget. But without the corks it will be like a ship without a sail.  Lone |

ok seriously mosquitoes dont like corks? I frequent the coastal marshes in Texas... which are thick with the vampires. so if I hang corks from my hat they will leave me alone? whats the story here? |

Thanks Liz.
I learned from JP's videos that taking your time doing the job and having fun along the way makes it easier. Also I believe that people worry to much about getting a sting causing them to be on edge and possibly a little clumsy. You just need to relax because the bees don't want to hurt you.
I found I was having much more fun and was enjoying my bees more once I took the gloves and jacket off and I feel that I am more gentle with the bees without the gloves. I still use a veil though as I do have bad reactions if I get a sting.

I need to put everything together and then ponder about more things to add, and then I can fire up the camera. What makes you think I'm an expert? I have always seen the string going through the cork with a knot on the bottom. So I would drill a small hole through to make poking the string in easier. |

Actually there was some serious music making going on that weekend.
