Being unfamiliar with AHB outside of the fearsome stories I have heard, I would have to agree with Keeperwannabe. Taking into account the number of deaths by Bees vs the number of deaths by any other means. Statistically I would be more afraid to die from the flu than die from an attack from bees. Its good to see someone else from Oregon with the same view points. Also, from what I hear, some people actually prefer AHB over other stocks of bees.

Not catching swarms or raising queens sounds like a club I have heard of that recommends you shake out your bees every fall and buy a package every spring then of course the president of the beekeepers association takes orders for packages.
