Digital camera of choice

I don't know if this is where this belongs, so here goes.  We are in need of a digital camera (way too much cost in film and developing of lousy pictures) and are on a tight budget.  What are your preferances?  We will take long distance and mere inches away pictures.  Thank you so much!

I personally have a Kodak Easy Share CX4300. I can't say it's cheap, and possibly not even affordable for many. I love it though. I think I spent about $250 for the camera and charging dock together. This was about 2-3 years ago, so now they have better ones for even less money.

Found this to be a great buy with many features.
Kodak Easy Share CX7300, 3.2 MP, 30 second movie mode (no audio), with printing dock (dock also charges camera) for just under $200.

Here's the Kodak Site to look at all they offer there. Generally you can get a nice camera for even $100, and the charging docks are seperate with a cost of about $60. You don't have to have a charging dock, but they are very handy. With it all you do is set the camera on it and it's generally just a one touch transfer of pictures to your computer. The camera just sits on the dock when not being used and gets all charged up. Without the dock you have to connect wires to the camera and computer every time you want to download, then go through the camera program (click this, click that) ...... it's just a pain. Plus you have to either replace batteries regularly, or buy rechargeable and take them out of the camera to charge on a regular basis.

The Wal-Mart site also lists many different brands to compare features and price.

I bought my wife a nice Concord 4363 EyeQ zoom Digital camera from Tigerdirect.com for about 100 bucks last year. It works pretty good and takes decent pics for the price. The digital zoom is kind of a lie though. Another word for digital zoom is "crop" basiaclly ruins any picture you might want to take at a distance. Better to take the picture at Highest resolution possible then crop using the software at home.

Buy as many Megapixtels as you can afford.

With as much OPTICAL ZOOM as availible. (for
distance shots.

Check prices for media (the storage card type) as
camera will come with only a small capacity one.

I like cameras that run on AA batteries, as I have
rechargables and can carry the charger when on
vacation, etc.

If you want to take close-ups of your bees, etc.,
make sure of the focal length of the lens. My camera
has a MACRO setting, that allows pictures to be taken
as close as 2-1/2" away

That Concord Camera is on sale at Tigerdirect for 100.00 Works pretty good. I liked it better than my mom's Hp of the same type.

Your not going to have a lot of choices if you want a high dollar camera
with macro capability, but there are a few out there.
