Presently attending UF Extension Office class "Beekeeping in the Panhandle". Not sure if I'm already behind the curve for Spring 2012. May use the next ten months or so to read, read, read and learn, learn, learn before I order my hive kit and bees. I think by springtime 2013 I may have a handle on what I need to do. I'm already learning loads from the forums here.

Order your bees now. It is not as difficult as it seems when you have support network like Beemaster.com.
Good Luck,
Steve

Welcome to the site!
Get started this spring! Don't wait! A friend of mine bought a lot of starter nucs from a guy in the panhandle last year.

Jump in this spring for sure. The fastest way to learn is to do! I'm not exactly next to you but am willing to help anyway I can.
Enjoy! Scott

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Welcome! Reading is a great way to learn about bees but it doesn't hold a candle to actually learning from the bees. Go ahead and jump in, you won't regret it!

I'm also in the same UF course but in Leon County.
Go ahead and plan for spring 2012. If you don't around June/July you'll wish you had.
I've been chomping at the bit myself for months.
