Which of your designs works best?  The one with the triangle shaped knifes, or the later 12volt heated wire design you posted?  Thanks for the links to your photos and design notes.

On the 12volt heated wire design, did you use anything special for the wire, like NiCr wire, or just any old wire?

I used wire from the heater from the heater with glass tubes.
In my state is called a heat lamp.
One heater cost U.S. $ 1.
Since a heater you can make 7-8 knife heaters
triangle shaped knives for a number of frames.
With the wire at 12 v is remarkable.
It takes more skill because you are working with him as with a hand saw.
12 V is still a small number of frames, the only advantage is that you can trim what to do when you roll conditions and put in a jar.

I take it that you slide the frame into the wire just past the frame ends and then run the length and then slide it out when you hit the other frame end?

My Internet connection is very bad, shot in a small format so that I can more easily released.
I live in a small village in Serbia, near the river Drina.
Here is a very bad connection.
The pictures are very clear, but the frame shown is DB, the torus.
Cable length corresponds to a beekeeper who has special hive.
The video frames uncovered small DB.
