taste and smell of basswood honey
«

This year our honey is mostly basswood honey, and folks tell us it has a "lemony taste". I find it pleasant tasting, just a little on the tangy side, but some folks don't like it. Have you found customers who don't care for basswood honey? Also - and here's the mystery - some jars of honey when you open them have a sort of bleach-like smell to them, even though I did not use any bleach to wash the jars! Other jars do not have this smell. Is this what basswood honey smells like? I am wondering why some jars are this way and others aren't. Has anyone else had any "odd" smells to their basswood honey?
