Howdy folks, I'm brand new on this forum and have been interested in getting bees for along time but just recently started researching and trying to learn more about them. One of my 2 hobbies is woodworking so I'm thinking hives are going to be cheap for me. I don't know much about beekeeping and have no one to teach me, so I will lay this weight on youins laps....lol.

Hello and Welcome! I'm sure you'll find this forum to be a great site to learn more about bees and beekeeping. Be sure to check out the tutorials on the main Beemaster page. Please update your profile with your location. Much of beekeeping is very location-specific, so in order to answer any questions you may have, it helps to know where you are. The 'search' function is very useful when you have questions and want immediate answers. Very often you can find just about any bee topic discussed in a previous thread. Lastly, I recommend getting involved with a local club. Club often offer beginning beekeeping classes, and are great places to find mentors and get connected to nearby beekeepers. Kentucky has some great clubs: http://www.kyagr.com/statevet/bees/association/index.htm

Other hobby is skydiving, although I don't jump much anymore. Have logged 200 jumps and can get my first instructional rating.

Wow! Skymonkey, that is a great user name.
Yeah, bee keeping can be a low cost hobby especially if you’re good at woodworking. Really there is nothing you can’t make yourself.
How many feet do you jump from?

My highest jump was from 17,000 ft. That's over 90 seconds of freefall time. It was illegal because the pilot was not supposed to take us over 15k without providing oxygen to everyone. Being a smoker I was woozy and staggered to the door to exit...lol

It's not the fall that kills you it's the sudden stop! Welcome too the most comprehensive bee keeping site on the web.....unless you suffer from symptoms of ADHD/Alzheimer's! If so just ask the question/statement in another manner, someone will give you an answer that will cover the topic.
